About Jess
I thought it was about time I shared an updated version of who I am, this frizzy-haired whimsical woman you allow into your inboxes on occasion.
I love old things and finding the beauty left in them. Fairytales, folktales, and mythology. Flowers, vines, and tree bark.
Small talk is not my jam. I go deep, and fast. My writing is the same.
Nature is my go-to balm for most ills.
You will typically find me surrounded by teetering stacks of books, journals, and pens, and a cup of coffee. Oh - and my 3 young children, who are either snuggling, brawling, or begging for another snack.
I love baking, especially bread, and learning to season food properly has lead me to an intense love of cooking and flavors.
I am nearly 37 at the time of writing this, and I feel more comfortable in my own skin than I ever have. I write about this a lot.
When I find time, I compose this newsletter. I try to get one out once a week, but sometimes life will get in the way and it may be closer to a month. Perhaps when I am persistently consistent, I will create a paid subscriber feature (thank you, you lovely folks, who have told me I need to).
My writing centers on things that move me. Words are often filtering through and grasping them to share with you is a true source of delight.
When I’m not writing or chasing kids, I am an Audiobook Narrator. I love every second of it. When kids don’t prevent me, I record the audio for this newsletter, though in a slightly less polished fashion.
Finally, I love connecting with my readers. As a “social introvert,” online communities have saved me in various ways. Please comment or email any time. Thank you for being here.
Warmly,
Jess
